“Our Town” tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. This simple story asks timeless questions about the meaning of love, life, and death in a continuing circle of life.
Our Town was one of Wilder’s favorite works. Dissatisfied with the theatre of his time, he used a metatheatrical style where the narrator/Stage Manager, breaks the fourth wall to address the audience. The play is to be performed with little scenery, no set and minimal, making this a perfect work to be presented as reader’s theater.
Watch the actors read this classic and stay to engage with the cast as they examine the play and its playwright.
