Leawood Stage Company will hold auditions for a concert style presentation of “She Loves Me” by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick August 10 & 11 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm in The Lodge at Ironwoods Park-147th Street and Mission Road.  Call backs are August 16 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm in the Oak Room at Leawood City Hall-4800 Town Center Drive, Leawood.  Steven Eubank is Director and Kevin Bogan is Music Director.  Be prepared to sing 32 bars  of a ballad and 32 bars of an upbeat song.  An accompanist will be provided.

Show dates are October 9-10-11 with a possible special show for a Corporate sponsor on October 8.

The Leawood Stage Company will for the very first time present a unique concert style production in the Oak Room of Leawood City Hall this October.  LSC will present a Broadway style musical as a concert to be read and sung.  The show, SHE LOVES MEis based on Parfumerie by Miklos Laszlo.  Book by Joe Masteroff, music by Jerry Bock, and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.  SHE LOVES ME is considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written.

Adaptions of Parfumerie spawned this musical and three films;  The Shop Around the Corner in 1940 starring Margaret Sullivan and James Stewart, s musical version In the Good Old Summer Time in 1949 starring Judy Garland and Van Johnson, and most recently in  1998 You’ve Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.

SHE LOVES ME will be presented Friday and Saturday, October 9, 10, 2009 at 8:00pm.  Evening performances will feature dessert and coffee for $10. per person or $70.  per table of 8 (to cover cost of food).  The matinee performance on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm will be theatre style seating with no admission price.

All performances will be held in the Oak Room of Leawood City Hall, 4800 Town Center Drive, Leawood, Kansas 66211.

The synopsis of the show is as follows:  Georg and Amalia are two feuding clerks in a European parfumerie during the 1930s who secretly find solace in their anonymous romantic pen pals, little knowing their respective correspondents are none other than each other.  Funny, intelligent, honest and sentimental, SHE LOVES ME is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old world elegance and nostalgia, yet as universal and relevant as ever in this age of internet romances.
