Leawood Stage Company has established a fund called

"Mics for Mike"

to honor the memory of our board member and colleague Mike Nemeth who passed away in December of 2013. We are using the funds to purchase a sound system including a number of body microphones for our actors in order to improve the sound quality at our shows.  Mike's family was generous in naming Leawood Stage Company in Mike's obituary as an organization to donate to in his memory.  We used those initial donations to start this fund.  We will be actively soliciting and collecting funds all year for this cause.

We are passing the bucket at Oliver this summer

so please come prepared. We can collect cash and checks at the show.

You can also donate by mail by sending a check to

LSC c/o April Bishop, 4800 Town Center Drive, Leawood 66211

Leawood Stage Company is a 501(c)3 making all donations tax deductible. Checks should be made out to Leawood Stage Company with "Mics for Mike" or "Mike Nemeth Memorial Fund" in the memo section."

Mike was a dedicated and valued member of the LSC Board of Directors, overseeing the development of our Facebook page and Web-site during his tenure.  Mike was widely known in the theatre community for the many roles that he played on our stage and countless other stages in the metropolitan area.  He may best be remembered on our stage in the role of Harry McAfee in our 2011 Summer production of "Bye, Bye Birdie" at Ironwoods Park.  Mike, a former middle school drama teacher, was a generous friend to all and a mentor to many.   He will be affectionately remembered for his sense of humor, firm opinions, and love of the stage.
